Recently, U.S. Ambassador to Jordan, Alice G. Wells, visited Umm El-Jimal to mark the successful completion of a preservation project focused on these significant ruins. She expressed her hope that Umm El-Jimal could flourish as an essential tourist destination, similar to its northern neighbor, Umm Qais.

During her visit, Ambassador Wells remarked, "From what I’ve seen today, Umm El-Jimal has the potential to drive tourist traffic to this area and enrich the livelihoods of this community. Funding and Support
The preservation initiative was made possible through a grant from the Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP), in partnership with Calvin College and Open Hand Studios, along with the Department of Antiquities of Jordan. Since its inception in 2001, AFCP has contributed more than $46 million to support over 800 projects aimed at preserving cultural heritage in more than 120 countries.
