Jordans Tourism Sector Sees an Impressive 18% Increase in Visitor Numbers and Revenue

Amman, July 3 (Petra) -- In a promising development for Jordan tourism, the number of visitors to the Kingdom surged by 18 percent during the first half of 2025, reaching an impressive 3.292 million in comparison to 2.786 million during the same timeframe in 2024, according to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.

June alone welcomed about 595,000 international visitors, marking an 8 percent growth over the figures from June 2024, despite ongoing regional challenges. As laid out in the Ministry's report, the international visitor tally for the second quarter of 2025 (April–June) reached 1.784 million, a significant increase of 23 percent from the 1.452 million who visited during the same period in the previous year.

This positive trend can be attributed to an increase in both overnight stays and same-day visits, bolstered by enhanced promotional campaigns alongside improvements in tourism infrastructure and services. Specifically, overnight visitors numbered 2.717 million in the first half of 2025, climbing from 2.375 million in 2024, representing a 14 percent rise. Furthermore, same-day visitors totaled approximately 575,000, signifying a remarkable 40 percent increase compared to 411,000 in the first half of 2024.

Tourism revenues for the first five months of 2025 reached around JD2.167 billion, reflecting a 16 percent increase from JD1.873 billion during the same period in the previous year. May alone saw a boost in tourism revenues by 18 percent, totaling JD447 million compared to JD380 million in May 2024.

The most notable growth in overnight tourist arrivals during the first half of the year came from European markets, which experienced an incredible increase of 82 percent. This was followed by a 44 percent rise from the Asia-Pacific region, a 43 percent uptick from the Americas, and a modest 5 percent increase from Arab markets.

This robust performance is a direct result of the collaborative efforts of various stakeholders within the tourism sector, including the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, tourism boards, private sector entities, airlines, and infrastructure investors. Initiatives aimed at diversifying tourism products, enhancing visitor experiences, and expanding promotional outreach to untapped markets have played a pivotal role in strengthening Jordan's appeal as a prime travel destination.

With ongoing cooperation across the tourism landscape, the industry is committed to executing a comprehensive strategy designed to promote sustainable growth, enhance its contribution to the gross domestic product (GDP), and create job opportunities. This strategy aims to reinforce Jordan’s reputation as a global destination known for its rich historical, religious, and natural heritage.
